Earlier this month we had approval from Full Council to proceed with our project to construct a new pool and leisure facilities, as long as we are successful in our bids for external funding to support the work.
We should know by the end of this month if our funding applications to Sport England and Coastal Communities Fund have both been successful. If this funding falls into place, we hope to start work on the project later this year.

Desperately hoping the funding bids are successful. What is going to happen if either of them aren’t though? The current leisure centre is in such a poor state it surely can’t limp on much longer….

Thank you for your comment. We are doing everything we can to attract the external funding we require to make the project viable and we should know our position in the next week or so. Officers are working behind the scenes to explore alternative funding options if either funding source does not come to fruition, but in truth there are very few opportunities available for this type of project to level of funding we require. Keep your fingers crossed!
